News and Updates / Fireworks Info
« Last post by Bill Warner on June 26, 2017, 08:39:42 PM »
The 4th of July fireworks season is rapidly approaching.  This message is a reminder that even though it is legal to buy and use fireworks in Indiana there are still some restrictions on where and when you may use them.

Here is a summary of the new rules for using fireworks:

1. Children under 18 years old may only possess or use any kind of fireworks if an adult is present.

2. Fireworks may be used ONLY on the user's private property.

3. Fireworks may ONLY be used during the dates & times set by the city. (See the table below.)

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the potential liability involved, fireworks may not be used on any of the common property areas in Amberleigh Village.  This includes the area around the pond, the common areas on Edgerton St., and the common area behind homes on the south side of Onyx St.

So, remember to be safe; respect your neighbors by not using fireworks after 11:00 p.m. (except on the 4th) or on illegal dates; and have a happy 4th of July!

FAQ / Mailbox Replacement/Maintenance
« Last post by Bill Warner on October 31, 2014, 10:39:30 AM »
According to our Covenants, replacement mailboxes must be the same size, style, and color as the original. Maintenance & replacement of the mailbox is the responsibility of each individual homeowner.

As for where to get them, Menards carries them:

So does Amazon, if you prefer to go that route:

I'm sure other local hardware stores would have them as well.  I hope that helps!

News and Updates / Halloween 2014
« Last post by Bill Warner on October 31, 2014, 09:04:01 AM »
The City of West Lafayette does not set specific Trick-or-Treat hours, which means you may go trick-or-treating whenever you would like to go. The Chief of Police "recommends using common sense when going trick-or-treating on the holiday, and always recommends it is best to go from dusk until no later than 9:00 p.m."

Therefore, Amberleigh Village's recommended Trick-or-Treat hours for 2014 are from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Halloween Night, Friday, October 31st.  You can let Trick-or-Treaters know that you are home and waiting for them by leaving your porch lights on.  If you do not want Trick-or-Treaters to come to your door, leave your porch lights off.

If you take pictures of your Trick-or-Treaters and would like to see them posted on the website, please upload your photos to a file sharing site (e.g. Dropbox) and e-mail a link to .

Also, please remember to be especially careful when driving through the neighborhood during this time because kids' costumes often restrict their vision.  For more Halloween safety information, check out these safety tips from the American Red Cross and Underwriters Laboratories Inc.:

News and Updates / WLPD: Burglaries in the area
« Last post by Bill Warner on August 29, 2013, 07:12:46 PM »
Dear neighbors,

The AV HOA received an alert from the West Lafayette Police Department today about a new rash of burglaries in the area. Here is the message from Captain Sparger:

Quote from: Captain Sparger
I need to make your neighborhood aware that we have a new
group of burglars working the north end of our city. The
latest group is entering unsecured patio doors during the
overnight hours and taking electronics and currency while
families are in the house sleeping.

We are working these cases from several different angles but,
the neighborhood shood be very vigilant in locking the houses
at all times. I would also suggest drawing the blinds at the
patio doors before retiring for the night.

In addition to the above, please call WLPD immediately if
residents see anyone in the neighborhood who doesn't belong.
If residents hear anything unusual at night, call immediately.
Some burglary victims have seen and heard suspicious things
before becoming victims and just didn't call the police.

    Thank you,

    Captain Gary Sparger
    West Lafayette Police
    765-775-5200

Here is another suggestion from a previous conversation that I had with Captain Sparger: Keep you outside lights on at night. This makes it harder for potential burglars to hide near your house in the dark.

Hi everyone and I don't know who to ask since I am fairly new to the neighborhood but I didn't know what the rules were on getting a new mailbox. Mine is probably one year away from rusting through.  The thing is I don't thing I can find a matching mailbox.  The I thought, do I need to order o e in conjunction or approval of the hoa. If anyone knows the protocol , please email me or respond to this to let me know!  Thanks!  Hope every one is having a great summer!
